'Boy Meets World' Sequel Series In The Works On Disney Channel

Boy Meets World Remake

Ben Savage is reportedly in 'early talks' to reprise his role on a new sitcom, 'Girl Meets World.'

Well, this is potentially the best news I've heard all year: A Boy Meets World sequel series ' titled, what else, Girl Meets World ' is on the horizon for Disney Channel, and HollywoodLife.com's sister site TVLine reports that Ben Savage is in early talks to play an all-grown-up Cory Matthews!

For those tragically unfamiliar with Boy Meets World, the ABC sitcom followed the life and times of American every-kid Cory Matthews (Ben) from 1993 to 2000. The updated series would reportedly follow the daughter of Cory and Topanga ' Danielle Fishel is, obviously, also being asked to return ' as she 'meets' the world of 2013. Or whenever this show ends up airing.

If you're a child of the '90s like me, this news is likely to fill you with inexplicable emotions. Cory and Topanga were the first TV characters I remember rooting for, more than a decade before The Vampire Diaries turned me into a veritable ship-aholic. I was fully invested in their relationship, from their their first kiss in season one to their wedding in season seven. I'd like to see what they're up today.

On the other hand, we're all familiar with the dangers of reviving classic TV. For every Dallas, there's a Charlie's Angels. For every Hawaii Five-O, there's a Melrose Place. Perhaps our memories of Cory and Topanga should best be kept that way, as memories.

In my mind, one of the finest gems to come out of Boy Meets World was Eric's (Will Friedle) 'Feeny Call,' so enjoy a montage of that below while you contemplate the crucial question at hand: Should Disney Channel revive this show?
