Julianne Hough's Glam 'Safe Haven' Premiere Hair & Makeup

Julianne Hough Safe Haven Beauty

The beautiful star sported a piece-y updo and a natural glow for the Los Angeles Premiere of 'Safe Haven' at TCL Chinese Theatre on Feb. 5 in Hollywood. Here's how you can copy her look!

Julianne Hough was the epitome of sophisticated glamour for her latest premiere. The actress wore her blonde bob in an intricate updo that put all the focus on her stunning face. With eyes as piercing as Julianne's, makeup is an afterthought. The star kept her face simple with muted tones ' a natural flush of color on her cheeks, and just a whisper of pale pink on her lips.

'Her entire look was inspired by her Alberta Ferretti dress which was a very sheer, nude color with beautiful, subtle detailing and shimmering pieces,' says celebrity makeup artist Spencer Barnes who created Julianne's look. 'We wanted to keep the makeup in line with that magical, ethereal feeling, nothing too strong.'

Makeup Artist Spencer Barnes' Tips On How To Get Julianne Hough's Makeup Look

Julianne Hough, 24, looked absolutely flawless. Here's how her makeup artist created the look:

'I started by prepping Julianne's skin with the Votre Vu Attentive Skincare Line for sensitive skin,' says Spencer. 'She was extremely happy with the result from the products because she was feeling a bit under the weather and felt her skin was originally looking a bit lackluster. The product that I liked the most was the Attentive Crème du Jour, which I applied with a foundation brush in order to get a very even veil,' he says. 'We wanted the focus to be her eyes, so we went with a very natural face. I applied the Votre Vu Love Me Deux in Provence all over to give her skin a youthful, luminous, lightweight look.'

Now For A Little Color'

'Then to give her a little color back, I took the Vu-On Rouge in Bouquet Rose and used my fingers to warm it up on the back of my hand, then blended it onto the apples of her cheeks,' says Spencer. 'This skin-on-skin application made it softer and sheerer.' Spencer then used Vu-On Rouge in Bouquet Rose to Julianne's lips.  'The brush gave greater control and a heavier application for denser color,' says Spencer.  He topped her lips with a pale nude lipgloss and set the makeup with Belle Poudre HD Sheer Face Powder in Medium.

To Get A Bronze Glow'.

To create a sun-kissed glow, Spencer used Beauté en Bronze, which was applied to Julianne's face with a fluffy powder brush and then he sculpted the sides of her face, cheek bones, neck and jaw line using an angled brush. He then applied the blush straight to the apples of Julianne's cheeks. 'Placement was key with this duo to get the dynamic quality of them playing off of each other,' says Spencer.

To Play Up Julianne Hough's Eyes'.

Spencer used a nude shadow to prep Julianne's eyelids and then smudged Le Joli Crayon in Aubergine to the upper lash line. He applied an eyeshadow trio from Face Atelier in light silver, pink, gold and dark brown shades to her eyes, curled her lashes and added Eiffel Power Mascara. Her brows were defined with Arch de Triumphe in Fair. Spencer set the whole look  with À Votre Santé Refreshing Spray. 'When she got into the dress, it was apparent that the look had come together perfectly,' he says.
